Objective(s)
  • The objective of this webinar series is to equip participants with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in the application of advanced techniques and tools to enhance the quality, accuracy, and relevance of official statistics. Each session focuses on a specific area, providing a comprehensive understanding of machine learning, geospatial analysis, user needs evaluation, data integration, privacy enhancement, and the use of JDemetra for seasonal adjustments. By the end of the series, attendees will be well-versed in modern methodologies that can significantly improve statistical practices and outcomes in their respective organizations.

Contents
  1. Machine Learning for Official Statistics: Explore the use of machine learning techniques such as classification, clustering, and predictive modeling to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of official statistics.
  2. Geospatial Analysis: Learn about geospatial analysis techniques for analyzing and visualizing spatial data, aiding in the interpretation and presentation of official statistics.
  3. How to Gather and Evaluate User Needs in Official Statistics: Understand methodologies and best practices for identifying and assessing user needs to improve the relevance and usability of official statistical data.
  4. Integrating Data from Multiple Sources: Discover the methods and tools used for combining data from diverse sources, enhancing the comprehensiveness and accuracy of official statistics.
  5. Privacy Enhancing Technologies for Official Statistics: Delve into technologies designed to protect privacy in the collection, processing, and dissemination of official statistics, ensuring data confidentiality.
  6. JDemetra Basics: Get an introduction to JDemetra, a tool used for seasonal adjustment of time series data in official statistics, covering its fundamental features and functionalities
Expected Outcome

The expected outcome of the webinar series is that participants will:

  1. Understand Machine Learning Applications: Gain a solid understanding of machine learning techniques and how they can be applied to improve the accuracy and efficiency of official statistics.
  2. Master Geospatial Analysis: Learn to effectively use geospatial analysis techniques for visualizing and analyzing spatial data in the context of official statistics.
  3. Identify User Needs: Acquire skills in gathering and evaluating user needs to ensure that official statistics are relevant and user-friendly.
  4. Integrate Multiple Data Sources: Develop expertise in using methods and tools to integrate data from various sources, enhancing the comprehensiveness and reliability of statistical outputs.
  5. Enhance Data Privacy: Understand and implement privacy-enhancing technologies to protect the confidentiality of statistical data throughout its lifecycle.
  6. Utilize JDemetra: Gain proficiency in the basic functionalities of JDemetra for seasonal adjustment of time series data, improving the quality and interpretability of statistical results.

Overall, participants will be able to apply these advanced techniques and tools to their work, leading to more robust, accurate, and user-centric official statistics.

Training MethodsThe course is split in 6 modules of 2h each, each one focusing on a different topic for data science. The scope of the webinars is to have a general overview of the selected topics.
