The Master’s Programme in Mathematics has 3 specializations:

• Pure Mathematics.
• Statistics and Mathematical Modelling.
• Theoretical Computer Science and Control and System Theory.

The description concerns the specialization of Statistics and Modelling for the EMOS label:

Compulsory course modules

• Official Statistics.
• Sampling and Statistical Processing.
• Statistics and Decision Making.
• Stochastic Processes.
• Topics in Official Statistics: Demography and National Accounts, Sampling Data.

Compulsory Elective

Two courses as follows:

1. One of the following:

• Time Series Analysis.
• Asymptotic Statistics.

2. One of the following:

• Information Theory, Entropy and Complexity.
• Optimal Control Theory.

Internship

Internship: Special Topics in Applied Statistics at the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) for 6 weeks.

Master Thesis

Master Thesis in the field of official statistics.

General Information

• 15 students are accepted to the Specialization of Statistics and Modelling.
• Bachelor degree in Mathematics or related degree required for acceptance.
• Up to 5 students of the Discipline are accepted for the EMOS label.
• The selection process for the EMOS label takes place at the end of the first semester.
• The program’s language is Greek.
