The Master programme 'Economics and Management' with EMOS specialisation 'Economic Statistics' is developed because of the high emphasis placed on the solid quantitative knowledge of economic graduates in mathematics, statistics and econometrics on one side and the strong focus of the faculty on official statistics topics on the other side. The programme targets not only Czech but also Slovak students, taking advantage of the closely related national languages and the favourable location of the university close to the Slovak Republic.

By our participation in the EMOS network, we bring another look on possible field of studies, where EMOS can be beneficial: in our study programme we bring up managers with extended knowledge of statistical methods and their applications and more - with knowledge about system of official statistics, where data entering analyses are created.

With the EMOS label, we wish to better appreciate and motivate students who select difficult quantitative specialisations. In addition, we wish to attract students with high potential to enrol at Mendel University in Brno. Finally, with the aid of the EMOS label, we wish to build up a demanding and prestigious study programme.

The graduates of the programme will be fully fledged economists with managerial skills and with strong background in econometrics and statistics who comprehend the full scope of the official statistics problematics including both, the system, and methods of official statistics. They will be ready for independent or teamwork in all types of bodies dealing with official statistics on national or European level. They will be suitable candidates for managerial positions at the respective institutions, but they are also prepared to work as analysts and are ready to undergo further professional training in position-specific advanced statistical techniques.
