Access conditions
General conditions
Microdata can be provided for research purposes to registered research institutions and registered researchers. "Registered" research institutions and researchers have a national identifier or are on the Eurostat's »List of recognised research entities«.
As a rule, users submit applications for access that are assessed by the Committee for Researchers (internal to SURS).
Conditions for non-resident researchers
Same as national researchers, although requests from non-registered researchers should be evaluated by the Committee for Researchers.
Conditions for students
Same as registered researchers, provided an authorized person signs the contract between SURS and registered research/academia institution.
Legal framework
Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2009 on European statistics and repealing Regulation (EC, Euratom) No 1101/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the transmission of data subject to statistical confidentiality to the Statistical Office of the European Communities, Council Regulation (EC) No 322/97 on Community Statistics, and Council Decision 89/382/EEC, Euratom establishing a Committee on the Statistical Programmes of the European Communities (L 87/164).
How much does it cost?
Free of charge.
How long does it take to obtain data?
3-4 weeks for surveys, up to 4 months for complex datasets from different data sources.

Types of microdata available for Slovenia
Public Use Files (PUF)
Public use files are available at https://www.stat.si/StatWeb/en/StaticPages/publicUseFiles/public-use-files
Scientific Use Files (SUF)
Files are sent to researchers after signing of a contract and a statement. SURS uses the government run SOVD system to send the files to researchers. Files have to be destroyed after the expiration of the contract. Via Big file exchange system (SOVD), researchers receive only statistically protected microdata that are the result of some statistical surveys conducted on a small sample.
Secure Use Files (SecUF)
More detailed confidential data can be accessed in the SURS safe environment after signing a contract and a statement. They can be accessed onsite in a secure data room or via a remote access system.

Microdatasets available for Slovenia
SURS enables researchers to access data for the purpose of research, i.e. to all data collected with statistical surveys planned in the current annual programme of statistical surveys (LPSR). The annual programme of statistical survery can be found here.

Disclaimer
The pages above provide information on microdata disseminated at the national level by the statistical institutes in the European countries and on microdata disseminated by Eurostat. The pages describe the data and the procedures for requesting access as well as the available types of microdata files (Public Use Files, Scientific Use Files, and Secure Use Files).
This information was initially collected by CASD/GENES for the CIMES database developed for Data without Boundaries project (funded by the 7th Framework Programme, the EU's research funding programme between 2007 and 2013). CIMES stands for Centralising and Integrating Metadata from European Statistics. Various organisations (ADP, CED, CNRS-Réseau Quetelet, FORS, GESIS, RODA, ONS, and UL) contributed to the creation of CIMES by collecting and structuring the metadata for the period of the Data without Boundaries project (2011-2015). In 2021, Eurostat moved the CIMES database to the CROS platform to facilitate updates of countries' information. Eurostat would like to thank all CIMES developers, especially CASD, for sharing the CIMES database and for all efficient collaboration.
