Course Outline
The course aims at describing the European System of Official Statistics, namely the European Statistical System (ESS). No previous knowledge on the ESS is required for attending the course. The course starts with a brief history and with the introduction of what is the ESS. The focus is then on the legal framework concerning the ESS and on European Statistical Programmes. All the ESS governance bodies are then introduced. A focus on quality within the ESS concludes the course. Throughout the presentation all the relevant websites and documentations are linked. The same documents are also provided as pdf files. Quizzes and assignments are proposed for students’ assessment and/or for their involvement during the course.
