SDMX Converter course

Target Group

The training session is aimed at Statisticians and IT professionals who are interested in the SDMX standard and / or Eurostat's validation architecture.

Objectives

This course enables participants to learn about the SDMX Converter, one of the tools Eurostat developed to support its implementation of the SDMX standard for the exchange and validation of data.

By the end of the course, participants are expected to gain a solid understanding of how the SDMX Converter can be used to:

• Convert data to and from SDMX-compliant formats 
• Validate data files

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

• Brief overview of the main elements of the SDMX standard needed for conversion and / or validation of data files
• Introduction to the SDMX Converter:
  • Explanation of its role in Eurostat's data exchange and validation architecture
  • Overview of the main functionalities of the SDMX Converter
  • Overview of the different available forms of the SDMX Converter (Web App, Command-Line Interface, Web Service and API)
• Step by step live demo example of conversion and validation tasks using the SDMX Converter Web App

The course concentrates on the use of the SDMX Converter Web App, which can be used for interactive, user-driven conversion and validation tasks. For automated or batch processing, the SDMX Converter is also available as a Command-Line Interface, as a Web Service and as an API.
