What inspired you to choose an EMOS-labelled master’s programme for your studies?
I’ve always been interested in doing something that could help in building a better society. This, along with my passion for the EU, led me to pursue a Master’s in Official Statistics. I chose Sapienza’s EMOS-labelled master’s programme because I’m keen on working in EU institutions where I can contribute to shaping a better Europe. I strongly believe that EU programmes like this can strengthen relationships among EU youth and foster collaboration towards a more united and improved society.
During your studies, have you participated in any activities dedicated to EMOS students?
During my studies, I attended several EMOS webinars, which were both interesting and well-presented. Additionally, as part of my double degree (a joint international master’s program between my hometown university and ENSAI, the French Grande école of statistics) I had the opportunity to do a cross-border internship in Luxembourg. This experience allowed me to immerse myself in another country’s culture and way of living. I also participated in the 2024 edition of the EMOS Workshop in Wiesbaden, where I had the chance to share my feedback on the EMOS experience.
Have you already completed your EMOS internship?
I completed my EMOS internship at the Luxembourg Institute of Health last September. It was an incredible opportunity to gain insight into what it means to work as a researcher. I truly enjoyed this experience, especially because it allowed me to collaborate with people from all over the world. The project I worked on focused on imputation methods for income in the European Health Interview Survey (EHIS) in Luxembourg. This was an amazing experience for me, as I had the chance to work with data from an official EU survey and contribute to solving important data issues.
Would you recommend a fellow student to choose the EMOS track at your university?
The EMOS programme at Sapienza University offers a wide range of courses on various topics focused on public institutions. This allows students to gain a broad set of knowledge and skills. I would definitely recommend the EMOS track to anyone interested in performing analysis and gathering data for the public sector, especially if you enjoy traveling to other European countries and meeting new and amazing people!
