Annamaria Bianchi, University of Bergamo, Italy

Annamaria Bianchi

I am responsible for the EMOS programme at the University of Bergamo since January 2021. Starting from January 2024 I am member of the EMOS Board.

What are the most interesting aspects of EMOS for your institution and you personally?
The most interesting aspect of EMOS for the University of Bergamo is the international orientation of the programme, that makes students and the university itself be part of an international community. Apart from the international orientation of the programme, EMOS is a valid course of study, offering great opportunities to students. In my experience at the University of Bergamo, students are very much satisfied after graduation and find immediately satisfactory jobs. For me personally, EMOS is a great opportunity for networking and knowing people with similar interests.

What do you see as the key benefits of an education in official statistics for master’s students?
In my opinion, the key benefit of an education in official statistics for master’s students is a solid background in statistics with special attention to applied issues, such as data quality. I am sure this solid background will prove to be a valuable asset in their future career, even outside official statistics.
