Carolina Haensch, LMU Munich, Germany

I currently serve as a board member of EMOS for LMU Munich. Previously, I was an EMOS student at the University of Bamberg and later the program coordinator at the University of Mannheim. This diverse experience allows me to appreciate the program's impact from both an academic and administrative perspective.

What are the most interesting aspects of EMOS for your institution and you personally?
At LMU Munich, we offer a Master's program in Statistics and Data Science. A key advantage of EMOS for our students is the enhanced opportunity to secure internships at statistical offices. The program’s emphasis on combining academic rigor with practical applications aligns perfectly with our institutional focus on
providing students with hands-on experience and advanced methodological training.

What do you see as the key benefits of an education in official statistics for master’s students?
An education in official statistics equips students with the skills to address critical challenges in data-driven fields. It prepares them to work with high-quality data, navigate issues of data privacy, and contribute to evidence-based policymaking. The program emphasizes the practical application of theoretical knowledge,
which is crucial for careers in public institutions, statistical offices, and beyond.
