Nearly ten years after the creation of the EMOS label, Eurostat had commissioned a study on the future development of EMOS to review the current objectives and achievements of EMOS and to explore opportunities for the future development with the aim of increasing its scope and impact. Following related discussions, and to improve EMOS as a quality label, the EMOS Secretariat and the EMOS Board, in consultation with the EMOS network at the EMOS Workshop 2024, prepared a proposal for a dedicated mission, goals, and value statement for EMOS, a proposal of revised EMOS learning outcomes and a proposal of revised EMOS label requirements. After these documents were endorsed by the ESSC in May 2025, the revisions have been implemented in an updated version of the EMOS Guide for Applicants, published in July 2025.
The updated version of the EMOS Guide for Applicants and the updated Application Form are available on the dedicated page EMOS Guide for applicants.
