Abstract

The Sample on Working Life (M.C.V.L.) is a set of individual microdata but anonymous, taken from Social Security records. The Social Security information is completed by the prosecutor provided by the Tax Agency and with the Population Register provided by the INE.

The sample included every year more than one million people, each of which has average had more than a dozen employment or affiliation situations different throughout its life. Variables related to the person (nationality, address) only appear once per individual, but those on the job and the employer
are to appear as often as relationships, and can reach several hundred mostly in certain professions such as performing artists. In turn, the base contribution for common contingencies are available for each month since 1980, someone that has been working since then have more than two hundred monthly basis
contribution, which must be submitted so as to identify to date as 2 correspond employment. For pensions also need to relate amounts dates, although in this case the volume is lower, since it is not necessary to give information for each month. Information from other sources (municipal census and tax data
derived from the tax deduction) brings its own peculiarities.
