Abstract

Continuing vocational training survey in enterprises (CVTS) is realized in the Slovak Republic as a first European harmonized survey in enterprises within the frame of project of European surveys. It is carried out in accordance with European regulation. In the year 2005 a pilot survey was realized in the Slovak Republic for the year 2004 by interviewing the reporting units through the paper questionnaires. By conducting the survey, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic tries to obtain quality information on the situation, structure and development of the CVT in Slovak organizations. The aim of this survey is to collect representative and comparable data on life-long learning and skill development by continuing vocational training in enterprise, which reflects as well in enterprises´ role in decision-making on the labor market and on employment questions. It results to databases on the data of vocational training in enterprises including the data on initial vocational training, where particularly the apprentices can be categorized. It is important to pay attention to policy and strategy with respect to adaptability of the human resources, change of production structure and service processes as well as the technologies in different sectors of the economic activities. The basic information enables objective evaluation and international comparison and analysis of the inequalities of skills supply on the market and demand for them in the regions and individual EU countries.
