Abstract

The purpose of the perception survey of the “Quality of life in cities” is to obtain information on factors characterizing the quality of life (satisfaction with education, health care services, city public transport, cultural facilities, safety in the city, local public administration, as well as information on the usage of different modes of city’s transport) from nine Latvian cities (Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Jūrmala, Liepāja, Ogre, Rēzekne, Valmiera, Ventspils). Riga is not included in the survey, as the survey will be conducted in Riga by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat). The data obtained in the perception survey is used by local governments, making decisions that affect the daily life of residents.

The first perception Survey on Quality of Life in Cities was held in 2017, the second in 2022. In 2017 as well as in 2022, the survey was carried out under the European Commission-funded grant Data collection for sub-national statistics (mainly cities) and Sub-national and city statistics, accordingly.
