Abstract

The European Community Household Panel (ECHP) is a panel survey consisting of interviews held with a sample of households and individuals year after year.

The interviews cover a wide range of topics on living conditions. They include detailed information on household income, the financial situation in the wider sense, working life, the housing situation, social relations, health and biographical information.

The total duration of the ECHP was 8 years, running from 1994 to 2001 (8 waves). The then Member States involved were Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Sweden and the United Kingdom. As from 2003/2004, the EU-SILC survey covers most of the above-mentioned topics.
