Abstract

SLÁN is a series of surveys commissioned by the Department of Health & Children and designed to produce baseline information for the ongoing surveillance of health and lifestyle behaviours in the Irish population.
SLÁN is a national study of the lifestyle, attitudes and nutrition of people living in Ireland.
It was first undertaken in 1998 and repeated again in 2002 and 2007.
The survey covers general health, behaviours relating to health (exercise, nutrition) and the use of certain health services.
