• 7 December 2023

Full name of the series in original language

Forta de munca in Romania, Ocupare si somaj (AMIGO)

Abstract

The objective is to elaborate the necessary information for the evaluation of phenomena on the labour force market; count the economically active population - employed and unemployed - and the economically inactive population.

The survey provides, in a coherent manner, essential data about all the population segments, with several possibilities of correlation and structuring by various demographic, social and economic characteristics, under the conditions of international comparability.

Starting with 1996, the household labour force survey is quarterly carried out, as a continuous research, thus allowing to get short-term data on the size and structure of labour force supply and to point out seasonal phenomena taking place on the labour market.

Geographic coverage

Romania

Notes

Since 2004 the sampling size increased to 28080 dwellings/quarter (compared to 18036 dwellings/quarter during 1996-2003). The sampling ratio is round 0.38% (compared to 0.24% during 1996-2003). The number of survey centers and of interviewers, respectively, is of 780 (compared to 501 during 1996-2003).

Annually, according to the work schedule of Eurostat, an additional module with a specific topic is added to the statistical survey HLFS. For the design of the complementary modules, in order to ensure the international comparability of data, the European Union standards and regulations, defined by specific Regulations of the European Commission, are taken into account.
