Abstract

The purpose of the statistical survey on tertiary (ŠOL-DIPL-TERC) is to collect individual data on graduates from higher vocational and higher undergraduate and postgraduate studies taking place at public and private vocational colleges and public and private higher education institutions. Observation units are tertiary education graduates, i.e. students that completed a publicly valid study program in vocational colleges and higher education institutions in a specific year. Until 2009, the survey was called "Graduates from vocational colleges and higher education institutions (ŠOL-DIPL)" and from 2010, it was replaced with a "combining" new survey, called "Graduates in tertiary education", that time covering postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) as well. Data on graduates from tertiary education (previously from vocational colleger and higher education institutions) are/were collected with the regular annual statistical survey ŠOL-DIPL-TERC. There are two sources for these data:
1.) the ŠOL-DIPL-TERC questionnaire (filled in by students in vocational colleges and some single higher education institutions)
2.) the administrative databases in higher education institutions (in case of the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor, the University of Primorska, the University of Nova Gorica and some single higher education institutions).
Coverage is full, which means that the survey covers all graduates from publicly valid study programs in all vocational colleges and higher education institutions in the country in a specific calendar year. Vocational colleges and single higher education institutions send us individual questionnaires answered by students, while the three universities – the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor and the University of Primorska – send us their computer print-outs prepared on the basis of individual questionnaires. The survey covered the data from 1 January to 31 December of the selected year.
