Abstract

European Health Interview Survey is the first sample survey on population health in the Slovak Republic (SR) that was performed on the basis of harmonized Eurostat methodology. The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (SOSR) realized the survey within an European project of public health statistics. The aim of the EHIS survey is to create a common framework for systematic production of the community statistics on health of inhabitants in the European Union. This survey will be carried out in the EU countries every five years. Statistical information obtained from this survey represents an important data source for international comparisons of the SR within the European Union and also for analysis of health status of the population in the SR. The survey provides results concerning health status, health care and health determinants.
